19 May 2005 : Hospitals Catering show improvement through international certifications

NTEC Hospitals achieve ISO 9001 + HACCP certifications in several months.

NTEC meaning North Territories East Cluster Hospitals of the Hospital Authority is consisting of seven hospitals including the North District Hospital, Shatin Hospital, Princes of Wales Hospital, Tai Po Hospital, Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, Bradbury Hospice, and Shatin Cheshire Home.

The North District Hospital has taken the lead in middle of 2003 to achieve ISO 9001 + HACCP certifications by BVQi in one trial. N. Law and Associates Management Consultancy Ltd. was the consultant.

In view of the benefits associated with such certifications, Management of NTEC has committed to get all Hospitals within the NTEC to achieve the same certification.

The project commenced in July 2004 and N. Law and Associates Management Consultancy Ltd. continued to be the consultant. But the time given for the project was very short --- only several months !

Throughout the implementation of the integrated management system, clear and concise workflow and standardized procedures were developed so that the employees can work in conformity with the Clusterˇ¦s requirements and to meet the customers (i.e. patient) expectations.

A ceremony was taken place in a restaurant in Shatin in mid 2005. Most staff members participated in the dinner during which BVQi representatives presented the ISO 9001 and HACCP certificates to Top Management of NTEC.

NTEC will continue to improve the system so as to operate in such a way as to meet new challenges, new force and ideas.
