1 Mar 2003 : Large proportion of Client companies have moved to ISO 9001:2000

It is a very clear requirement of ISO that ALL organizations originally certified to ISO 9001:1994 or ISO 9002:1994 must be upgraded to ISO 9001:2000 by mid Dec. 2003. Owing to the recent economic recession, however, many companies have not yet made up their plans to upgrade their Quality Management System. Although the deadline is near, many Certification Bodies have announced that only 30 to 40% of their clients has been upgraded. Many of the originally certified companies just keep silent without indicating any intended actions. It is, however, encouraging to find that 50% of our clients have completed the upgrade, and another 20% are on the move. We expect that 80% to 90% of our clients will achieve ISO 9001:2000 by end of this year. Those still not having done anything by that time will have their Certificates removed.
