I am running a trading company with a variety of different trades. Can I apply for ISO 9002:2000 Certification ?

The answer is NO.
Since the publication of ISO 9001:2000 in December of year 2000, companies are encouraged to work to the new standard. The old standards such as ISO 9001:1994, ISO 9002:1994 and ISO 9003:1994 have been replaced. If you are still wanting to stick to the old standard, you can do so. However, the Certificate will only be valid til the end of year 2003.
Therefore, it is highly advisable to work to and get certified with the new standard ISO 9001:2000.
